Calling Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic Staff

The next meeting of the Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic Staff Network (BAME) is taking place on Wednesday 6th September, 1-2:30pm in the Ross Meeting Room in the Foundation Building.

The term Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic does not refer to skin colour. The emphasis is on the common experience of people of African, African –Caribbean, Asian, and non UK origin.

If you self define as being from a BAME community you are welcome to attend and/or join the network. If you would like to come to the meeting and/or join the network please contact Dr Zainab Hussain, the Network Chair on bmestaff@liv.ac.uk

Network Aims:

- To promote race equality though direct, active involvement and consultation on the University's strategy, policies and guidance on race equality;
- To help to sustain a supportive culture and positive work environment, where racial diversity is valued and all staff and students are encouraged to reach their full potential;
- To help formulate, provide advice and feedback and participate in University initiatives to encourage greater racial diversity
- To help formulate, provide advice and feedback and participate in University initiatives to combat discrimination and increase cultural awareness
- To provide the opportunity to share experiences about working at The University of Liverpool.
- To provide a safe environment for BAME staff to discuss issues related to them.
- To provide space to network, not only at a professional level but also social levels by organising events.
