Road Closure reconfiguration - Pembroke Place/West Derby Street

Please be advised, from Monday 20th January there will be a reconfiguration of the traffic system in place on Pembroke Place/West Derby Street (running adjacent to the Royal Liverpool Hospital construction site).

Laing O'Rourke (principal contractor) have informed us that this will be in place until April 2020.

The traffic is now down to one lane, in a single direction, from the Ashton Street junction (outside University Dental Hospital) up to the main crossroad intersection with Low Hill.

There is a 3-way traffic light control system, managing the traffic coming from Crown Street, Ashton Street (entrance to Campus) and on Pembroke Place/West Derby Street itself. This is where the congestion will be created, especially at peak hours.

This will evidently cause disruption for all access routes to campus around the North/Central campus area.

We are aware that additional works on Brownlow Hill are already creating additional pressures with the traffic in and around campus.

Laing O'Rourke have sent their apologies for any inconvenience but the closure is the only way they can facilitate the works in that particular area.

We are aware of the ongoing issue this will create for staff and others alike, and we remain in contact with Laing O'Rourke to monitor this situation going forward.
