Funded workshop places available: sports sponsorship by food and beverage companies

The workshop will be led by Dr Emma Boyland and Prof Amandine Garde (University of Liverpool), Dr Nikhil Gokhani (University of Essex) and Dr Matthew Philpott (European Health Stadia Network), and will involve academic and policy actors. It will focus on the implications of sports sponsorship by food and beverage companies on nutrition and health. The aims of the day will be to bring new perspectives to this issue, identify research gaps, forge a new collaborative research network and reflect on possible policy developments in this space.

Applications are now invited from early career researchers (doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, and researchers who completed their PhD within the last 5 years exclusive of any required leave e.g. parental) interested in attending an interdisciplinary workshop to be held at the University of Liverpool London campus (Finsbury Square, London) on Tuesday 28 April. Selected applicants will be able to claim reimbursement of their travel expenses (economy travel up to a total of £200) and, if required, 1 nights' accommodation.

Please submit a brief CV (2 pages max) and cover letter (1 page max) to eboyland@liverpool.ac.uk by 5pm on Friday 28 February. These documents should highlight your particular interest in this topic, what you believe you could contribute and how you feel it may benefit your professional development. Informal enquiries may be sent to Dr Boyland (eboyland@liverpool.ac.uk) or Prof Garde (agarde@liverpool.ac.uk). Successful applicants will be notified by mid-March.
