CIE Network: Active Learning

We are so excited to announce Professor Alejandro (Ale) Armellini is our next speaker at the Active Learning Network. Ale is Professor, Dean of Learning and Teaching, and Director of the Institute of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education at the University of Northampton, where his role is to provide leadership in learning and teaching and learning innovation across all Faculties. His work includes the development, implementation and evaluation of Northampton's Learning and Teaching Plan, which includes a comprehensive, externally-accredited staff development programme leading to professional recognition of teaching in Higher Education (Fellowships). He was also the strategic lead for the redesign of all programmes for active blended learning, in preparation for the University's move to its new Waterside campus, which opened in September 2018. Ale is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Ale's research and doctoral supervision focus on learning innovation, online pedagogy, course design in online environments, institutional capacity building and open practices. He holds visiting professorships at several UK and overseas universities.

Ale is going to join us for our active learning network meeting and talk about active blended learning (ABL), his reflection on it in the University of Northampton and how we can thinking about implementing ABL in our own Learning and Teaching practices.

This network is for University of Liverpool staff (wherever they are based) who share an interest in active approaches to learning. It will operate as a community of practice with a focus on displaying and incorporating good practice into the curriculum. A space which supports and encourages innovation, trying out new ideas, sharing experiences and opportunities to network with staff and discuss challenges. This can be done both through Listserv lists and Microsoft Teams.

This workshop is hosted by the Centre for Innovation in Education and open to University of Liverpool staff only.
