Hedgehog Awareness Week

It's Hedgehog Awareness Week!

The University of Liverpool are members of the Hedgehog Friendly Campus scheme, which aims to raise awareness of the plight of hedgehogs while taking practical steps to improve habitats across university campuses. The Hedgehog Friendly Campus project is funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and runs nationally.

Virtual Q&A Everything you have ever wanted to know about hedgehogs. Ness Botanic Gardens are hosting a virtual Q&A with the University's Hedgehog Champion, Zoe Chapman. Questions can be emailed directly to zchapman@liverpool.ac.uk. Deadline for questions is 6th May and answers will be posted 9th May.

Craft Competition We would like to invite you to enter our craft competition (open to all ages) in support of Hedgehog Awareness Week, have fun and get creative! Entries should have a hedgehog theme and be submitted as photographs via Twitter @HogLiv or email nessgdns@liverpool.ac.uk . Monday 4th May, 2pm Join us for a special edition of The Guild's online programme when we will be talking about the Hedgehog Friendly Campus scheme and what you can do to help hedgehogs!

Tuesday 5th May, 11am Family event: Edwin the Hedgehog tells us how to help hedgehogs. Hedgehog themed crafts will also be available.

Tuesday 5th May, 4.30pm Join us for an Instagram Live with Nessie's Nature Notebook, where we will be talking about all things hedgehog.

Wednesday 6th May We'll be releasing a short film showing simple ways that we can all make our gardens more hedgehog friendly.

Friday 8th May Virtual Q&A film posted. We'll be releasing a short film showing how to use tunnels to survey hedgehogs in your garden.
